High-Speed Carousel from Tecan

The Carousel is a fast access storage system, which gives users increased walkaway time and is ideal for high throughput applications in genomics, drug discovery and proteomics. The Carousel is compatible with all Freedom EVO® liquid handling instruments and can handle all microplates meeting the Society of Biomolecular Screening (SBS) footprint.
The Carousel allows random access to 220 plates, with an average access time of just 12 seconds per plate. It provides a Freedom EVO workstation with a medium storage capacity and comfortable walkaway time. The Carousel is made up of ten stacks, each of which can be transferred from one carousel to another and can be configured for different types of plates. It can handle stacks with various shelves spacing to allow storing a different type of labware in each stack. A barcode option for the Carousel identifies and tracks samples throughout the complete workflow.

The differences to the current version is the higher speed of the carousel and of the plate handler. The average access time for the TECAN Carousel HS is ~11 sec, the maximal access time to retrieve or store a plate is 14 second, compared to 35 seconds for the current TECAN Carousel.

The Tecan Carousel HS is the fastest random access carousel on the market. It speeds up processes on Genesis instruments that require a medium storage capacity. Stacks of the Tecan Carousel HS are compatible with those of the Tecan Carousel. The stacks can be transferred from one carousel to another and can be configured for different types of plates.The regular Tecan Carousel can be easily upgraded to a Tecan Carousel HS.
