Tecan is my personal favorite brand of laboratory robots. I've spent hundreds of hours playing with Genesis and Freedom robots.

This is a Tecan Genesis 150 with an 8-channel Liquid Handler, a RoMa (gripper arm) and it includes the low-volume option. What would you do it this appeared on your bench?

First, I'd make sure the bench can handle 500lbs. Second, I'd go looking for someone with experience to turn it on.





Typical Laboratory Applications for a Genesis robot:
  • Plasmid Preps - Mag Bead separation or vacuum filtration
  • DNA/ RNA from Blood - Mag Bead separation or vacuum filtration (Clean)
  • PCR Prep - All you need is a good plate and clean tips.
  • ELISA - Coat and wash plates, run the test, read the plate
  • Hit Picking - Assuming you have 'hits'
  • Rearraying 96-384 - best with 96 tips, but great with eight.
  • Plate replication
  • Serial Dilutions - how low can YOU go?
